Plitvice Lakes in Croatia
Plitvice Lakes are located in a basin karstic rock, mainly dolomite and limestone, which form a special feature. Lakes separated by natural dams of travertine, which is a deposit of moss, the content of Mud, algae and bacteria.
The formation of travertine dams increases about about 1 cm per year. The lake is also famous for the color change, from blue sky, green, blue or gray. This color change depends on the quantity of minerals or organisms in the water and sun elevation.
